Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here and keep this simple about what the Southern Cameroons people need. Other scholars need to get involved in this so that it does not go too far out of bounds. Little Southern Cameroons cannot take upon itself the task of bein the front of some kind of pan african fight. Let southern cameroons take care of itself, and africa will take care of itself. Focus focus focus is what we need. I encouraging that you use the Afrocentricity material in a careful way. It is fine in some university environments to go all wild, but out in the real world, it is not good to show your hand like this. Use some insights but do not go off sounding like Malcolm X. It only brings hostility from those threatened by that kind of talk. You get too ideological like this, the work will be damaged.
pther smart people need to join and balance this.

Simpleperson , it would be help to go beyond critiques to start to modify the entry, or to create a different article with an alternative point of view. This comment is one year later, but still cogent. This work must continue to grow.

I donot share the opinion with many who imagine that the Southern Cameroons will acquire statehood on a platter of gold or through any of the institutions inherent in the present poltical dispensation of 'La Republique'.The SCNC will be over simplifying the struggle in the eyes of the international community if it continues the struggle in dispersed ranks.I think the problem lies in ideological differences with some opting for total secession and others federalism.I am for the second option because I have a firm conviction that if we obtain immediate secession without resolving the northwest/southwest cleavage,we will drown ourselves in total chaos like many countries who after gaining independence suffered ethnic and civil conflicts. Thus federalism will be a level ground for us to test our political maturity and consolidate our unity. Also in the present world political dispensation, immediate secession will not be easy option to on which to draw popularity. The African continent needs to consolidate its unity so as to better stand against the on going globalistion. The cases of other secessionists movements who have not really achieved their goals despite decades in the struggle.notworthy are ETA in Spain,IRA(N.Ireland),SADR(Morrocco) etc.
It is my humble opinion that anglophone souvereignty be raised to the level of a 'doctrine' and that the young be given the opportunity to direct the struggle.

Dear Madiba: I think we should look at the issue as follows:
Freedom: no compromise on that and no statute of limitations. We shall continue to strive for it with all the means at out disposal.
If we do our groundwork thoroughly we should limit the violence. If we act together, we could limit violence as well. If we act intelligently and imaginatively, that could also limit the violence. There are some interesting discussions along these lines, which of course cannot be public.
There is no guarantee that we would not require a war to gain independence, but there are many countries that unexpectedly gained independence with minimum to no bloodshed because of shifting geopolitical realities. That was the story of South Africa. As the Soviet Union declined, Apartheid South Africa could no longer pretend to be a bulward against communism, and lost its hidden support from the West. La Republique du Cameroun will not resist change for very long, if certain things change suddenly.
That is why we must continuosly prepare to take over control of our destiny, because we have no notion what tomorrow may bring. Best not to be caught off guard.
Things could also go very wrong. They could also go very very wrong if we did nothing.

This audit will need, among others, seasoned demographers, and I am sure the territory has many of these. I will be interested in the census of the territory for the purpose, among others, of road infrastructure. Years ago someone (an airbag) promised supervising a ringroad up country. This was not even electioneering; it was plain cynicism on his part because he never intended to do anything about the project. Today, if our demographers can tell us how many we are, and we can organise a serious fund-raising drive over a period of one year, we can build our own super highway spanning the length of SCmr from Nkambe to Victoria, passing through all the important towns on the land. For this to happen, we need honest financiers to keep the money while more is being collected for the project. When enough is collected to kick-start the project, the work may be started from both ends. Your inspiration for this should come from the Channel Tunnel between continental Europe and Britain. The project was started from both ends and satellites were used to monitor progress. We will not need satellites, just honest, hard-working people of the land. For the fund-raising, every SCian, child or adult, will count. If there are 6 million of us contributing 1000 francs a month, we will raise 6,000,000,000 francs in a month. In 10 months, we will raise 60,000,000,000 francs. In the absence of graft and other corrupt practices, this money should be enough to build us a super highway. Following the succes of this poject, we can go on to other areas, health, education, etc.
I should be interested to have feedback from contributors on this thought.
Bongfen

Hello Bongfen: You need to put your ideas into the "meat" of the section, not just the comments. You are enrolled here as a writer. Think about this. Perhaps this idea about the roads should go under the economy section, where we create a new section, transportation. Looking forward to your regular contributions.

That is a great point. We need to start from the fundamentals. What kind of country would be want. I have outlined where I think we should be headed above. Since this is interactive, please modify and reshape my contribution. Even edit it out completely.

It is important that we come up with a project for developing a constitution for the State that would see the light of day as a fruition of our struggle for the restoration of the temporary submerged State of Southern Cameroons, whatever name we may adopt for reborn nation.
Parrallel to the development of a constitution we must work out the background to the constitution. This I consider requires a reconceptualization of the Nation-State which will simultaneously draw from our history and also assit us disconnect from our ugly colonial past. Many african states which are said` to be independent are still in the yoke of of neocolonial dominance. We have a chance to avoid tjhis infection because we have the opportunity to reconceptualize our nation given the human resources we are blessed with.
Thank you.

SOO, GOD BLESS YOU AND LETS HOPE THAT OUR INDEPENDENCE COMESS SOONER AND WITHOUT WAR. FOR ONCE AGIAN THE WORLD IS REMINDED THAT COLONIALISM ISNT ONLY A WHITEMAN GUILT,BUT BLACK-FRENCH MEN OF CAMEROUN HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN COLONIALISING FELOW AFRICANS FOR 45 YRS TOO.
